THE CHAMPIONS-LIVERPOOL
The Merseyside Club made history as they won their first Premier League title and their first league title in 30 years. They are currently the Champions of England, Champions of Europe and Champions of the World. The Reds amassed a total of 99 points, just one short of Man city’s record tally of 100 points in a 38 game season. Liverpool completely dominated the league from the get-go as they went on to win the league by a grand margin of 18 points. Klopp’s men had a very dominant season with Sadio Mane and Mo Salah spearheading their title challenge like the previous few seasons. However, credit is due to their fullbacks as not only were Liverpool solid at the back for most of the season. Trent-Alexander Arnold and Andy Robertson ended the season as 2nd and 3rd top assister respectively. Captain, Jordan Henderson had his contribution recognised as he was awarded the player of the season award by the PWA.
PLAYER OF THE SEASON-KEVIN DE BRUYNE
Man City’s Belgian Maestro took the premier league by storm this season as he matched French legend Thierry Henry’s record for most assists in a 38 game season with 20 assists to his name. He enjoyed great personal success as he racked up 31 goal involvements in 35 appearances and it’s crazy to think that one player had such a huge impact that he was involved in almost 1/3 of their goals as the city went on to score 102 goals in the league this season. Kevin De Bruyne put on a stellar performance on the last matchday as City bid farewell to another ingenious player in David Silva with 2 goals and an assist. Honourable mentions: Jordan Henderson and Jamie Vardy
GOALKEEPER OF THE SEASON- EDERSON MORAES
The young Brazilian goalkeeper who plays for Man City won the golden glove award for having kept the cleanest sheets this season. He topped the list with a grand total of 16 clean sheets edging Burnley shot-stopper, Nick Pope, who he was tied with at 15 until the penultimate stage of the competition. Ederson would be rather pleased with his effort as he narrowly missed out on the award last year. Although he managed to keep 20 clean sheets, he lost out to fellow Brazilian, Alisson Becker’s total of 21. Much like Kevin, the young Brazilian was a vital cog in Pep’s team in David Silva’s farewell from the Premier League by keeping out 4 shots on his goal.
Honourable Mentions: Nick Pope and Dean Henderson
