After 30 years of disappointment and excessive patience, the celebrations begin outside Anfield as soon as the final whistle was blown at the Stamford Bridge on Thursday night after Chelsea beat Man City inspired by a Willian spot-kick, making it mathematically impossible for any team to match Liverpool’s points tally even in the unlikely scenario of them losing their remaining 7 games. Chelsea winning a title for another team, where have we seen this one before? Manchester City is all set to give the reds a guard of honour, showing their respect and appreciation for the record-breaking season that Liverpool has had. The champions have broken multiple records on their way to success, they have become the team to win the league with the most number of matches remaining, with them still having 7 league fixtures to spare.
Arthur-Pajanic Transfer Saga
It all seems to be going wrong at the Camp Nou right now with the Catalonian club having dropped points in 2 of their last 3 games, having given up the pole position of the La Liga to cross country rivals, Real Madrid. Barcelona sees themselves in second place trailing their rivals by 2 points with 6 games to go. Barca boss, Quique Setien and defender, Gerard Pique, have been vocal about the possibility of them regaining the top spot before the conclusion of the league despite them travelling to in form, Athletico Madrid next. However, they have also been in the news over the swap deal between Pjanic and Brazilian youngster, Arthur.
Many have critiqued this decision and find it hard to believe that they have offloaded a player, widely regarded as a future superstar for a player approaching the twilight years of his career, but Barcelona has faith in their decision of signing the Bosnian midfielder Miralem Pjanic and hopefully, he can justify the 60 million price tag that he’s been bought for. The world remains divided on deciding which of these clubs actually got the better deal. Well, we will get the answer for this in the coming seasons, won’t we? The players have benefitted from this transfer as they are now both part of an elite club of players who have played for two of the greatest players of this era, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
