With the Last of us 2 being launched in less than a week, we at MyScoop have decided to put everything we know about the game onto one page to help new and old fans of the game be prepared for what’s next in this incredible journey.
Story
The last of us 2 continues the story of Joel and Ellie, taking place approximately 4 years after the first game. Ellie and Joel reside in Jackson County, Wyoming. Most of the plot will revolve in Seattle. Joel will not be a playable character but will have an important emphasis on the story. While the first game focused on love and developing a father-daughter relation, the second game will focus on hate and anger. The trailer does reveal to us that Ellie goes on a revenge spree because of something that happened to someone dear and very close to her.
Characters
There will be two new factions introduced in-game, the Washington Liberation front, a militaristic faction, and the Seraphites, a group of religious people who have given up on technology. Ellie will be continuously clashing between these two clans. There will also be new side characters some of whom will play a huge part in how the story develops. New enemies have also been revealed with some looking more frightening and threatening than others.
Gameplay
Naughty Dog has taken the biggest criticism most people had about the last of us and fixed it. AI is a lot smarter and follows the rules of stealth, is more useful in combat, and is more strategic. Each character has a name in which enemies will mourn when seen dead. Similarly, a dog will be with its master if killed and it works the other way round as well, enemies will grieve the loss of their dog which you have killed, this helps create a livelier world and create a deeper more impactful story.
As mentioned before dogs are now enemies and can be a nuisance to players, making sneaking around much harder. Every enemy from the first game will return with the addition of a few more which will be revealed when you play the game.
Animations have received a significant improvement with the help of Naughty Dogs' new technology. Traversal has improved significantly as Ellie can now jump, rope swing, and finally swim. Travelling by boats and horses will be much more frequent due to the larger sections of the map. Customizations are much deeper, allowing you to customize the character’s playstyle which is best suited for you. There is now a dedicated doge button allowing for more agility, freedom, and an overall better feel during combat.
