Have you ever wondered why food is so costly at cinemas, well it’s because most of the revenue received from tickets is given to distributors?
If it wasn’t for the high priced foods multiplexes wouldn’t be able to survive. Have you ever spent more money on food then u intended well this is how cinemas trick you into spending more
From the moment you enter you are greeted with eye-catching visuals of food and drinks. From the design of the stalls to the exact placement even the glass displaying the various food is psychologically calculated and placed accordingly to fool the brain into buying food unnecessarily. The Audi is hidden behind dark alleys with dull atmospheres while food stalls are well lit. The billboards are decorated to please the eye. Advertisements filled with gorgeous shots of the food make your mouth water. The thrill of seeing your food being prepared in front of you gives a sense of excitement. The popping of kernel seeds, the fizz of the soda being poured subconsciously makes you want to savour the food and purchase it even if you are not hungry. Theatres will often have a waiting area where you can witness people gorge on food, this makes you hungry. From the second you enter the sweet aroma of caramel or cheese engulfs you. Combos are an easy way to make customers spend more than what they can eat. While it may seem like you have saved money by purchasing a combo or a meal, which is incorrect you haven’t saved anything but rather have spent more. Apps on your phone giving you certain coupons will send you messages reminding you that you can save money on a particular meal but once again you haven’t saved anything the royalty program just causes you to spend more money
