Bayern inch closer to Bundesliga Triumph

German giants, Bayern Munich took the final plunge towards national success after Leon Goretzka helped the club salvage all 3 points following his 86th minute winner against 5th place side, Borussia Monchengladbach. The game ending 2-1 in favor of the league leaders and defending champions. Although, Borussia Dortmund managed to get the 3 points from their trip to Dusseldorf following golden boy, Håland’s last ditch effort, it looks unlikely for them to still have a shot at the coveted Bundesliga shield. Bayern look all set to clinch their 30th league title when they play Werder Bremen on Tuesday night with them sitting just 2 points from the championship. The tussle for relegation at the bottom continues with 6 of the bottom 7 having a minor gap of 7 just points and the whole look of it could change following the upcoming fixtures.

La Liga returns with a bang

In the last week, we witnessed the return of the top flight of Spanish football with two giants of the footballing world, Real Madrid and FC Barcelona, both returning to action following the forced break caused by the outbreak of the corona virus in Spain. FC Barcelona extended their lead to 5 points at the top on Saturday after defeating RCD Mallorca with talisman, Lionel Messi registering 2 assists and adding 1 to his goal tally, bringing him closer to the Pichichi, an award given to the top scorer of each La Liga season. Real Madrid responded to this very well and remained hot on Barca’s trail, cutting down the gap at the top to 2 points again, Real’s 3-1 victory over Eibar also marked the return of their big money signing, Eden Hazard who hadn’t made an appearance since February. Atletico Madrid continue to look a shadow of themselves following a 1-1 draw at the San Mames against Athletic Bilbao.
