Due to the recent outbreak of COVID-19 cricket tournaments across the globe have faced several problems including a financial crisis, delays in tournaments and cancellations in fixtures.

INTERNATIONAL CRICKET

The 2020 T20 World Cup is to get underway in October, but the International Cricket Council (ICC) admitted that it was "exploring all options", despite playing down reports that it could be pushed back until 2021. A postponement would be a blow to some of the game's ageing stars strength and players fitness. This would hinder the selection process and limit some of the players due to their age and physicality.

INDIAN CRICKET

The recent outbreak of the coronavirus has the world's richest tournament, the Indian Premier League indefinitely suspended. The 13th edition of the IPL, one still feels, will get a window by the end of this year as the stakes involved for all concerned are too high for it to be cancelled without a ball being bowled.

FUTURE OF CRICKET

There have been plenty of matches scheduled in the future for those countries that have overcome or have handled the COVID situation. There are still plenty of fixtures and tournaments that the ICC board has to make decisions and explore their options for however there are plenty planned for all the cricket lovers!
