World Environment day was celebrated admirably across the globe on 5th June. While a few plant trees at home during the lockdown, others sold environment friendly bags to people on the streets, keeping in mind all the precautions to prevent the spread of the deadly coronavirus. India’s largest nursery is now open at Delhi airport while Delhiheights also spend time with exquisite trees in Delhi during the lockdown. The lockdown has had great effect on the environment as citizens of Mumbai caught glimpses to see Cheetahs, peacocks and other creatures that were previously highly unlikely.
Mumbai continues to struggle and get back on its feet. One of the biggest industry in Mumbai, the Bollywood industry, loses two of its gems in the month of June: Wajid Khan, the famous music composer who worked with his brother Sajid-Wajid and Basu Chatterjee, a veteran director of the industry. Their contribution will always be remembered as they truly contributed only the best. Moreover, the Bollywood industry continues to provide exemplary contributions in India’s fight against the covid-19 virus through the ‘iforindia’ concert which raised nearly Rs.52 crores.
However, coronavirus wasn’t the only problem, the cyclone Nisarga which was travelling at 40knts towards Mumbai was also a major disaster. It destroyed most of the houses in Alibaug and also damaged the construction of the roro ferry at the Mandwa Jetty.The cyclone also hit Raigad where six people died. As a result, The Chief Minister of Mumbai has announced Rs.100crore of aid.
Coronavirus has now reached 227,000 cases as of 5th June and continues to increase exponentially as services and other facilities open up across the nation. The only coronavirus free state in India is the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. In addition to that, New Zealand has also not recorded any case of Coronavirus for the last 14 days and is likely to be declared corona free. In contrast, Maharashtra crosses the 80,000 mark making most of the city a red zone. However, the high court has now given permission for dogs to be taken for their daily exercises and walks for a limited amount of time period, keeping in mind social distancing. It has also allowed people to spend time at parks, but hasn’t permitted the use of gym equipment. Furthermore, the price for the COVID-19 test is expected to drop to Rs.2300 from Rs.4500
