December 2019 was the month in which this virus was first introduced to us. From China to the Philippines and now the whole world. For us, in India, it was introduced on the 30th of January and slowly and gradually spread through our entire nation due to people travelling and being in constant contact with each other. Now cases have soared over about 1.5 million and India was not prepared from the very beginning.
MIT predicts, by 2021, India would have crossed the USA and Brazil in the number of cases and the world have the rank of the most COVID cases in the world. The Indian government announced the nations biggest ever lockdown with about less than 4 hours’ notice. If he did take immediate action, why are we predicted to have the highest number of cases in the world? This happened because India was the only country to lift the lockdown rules while cases continued increasing, this added fuel to the fire, and we saw a massive increase in the number of cases. This lockdown was to keep people inside to store medical facilities for the public and keep the number of cases steady. This virus has now caused many deaths and fear amongst the people such that people with non-COVID reasons of being sick are too afraid to seek medical help or are neglected due to the fear of getting the virus. This may have caused more deaths to increase than decrease.
This pandemic targeted our bad medical facilities, lack of hospital beds, tired staff, and a lot more and this was bound to happen with our low allocation of healthcare facilities. Just hope the new “cure” we could see some improvement in the number of cases. After being cured,22 patients have come back home with pulmonary fibrosis and these patients did not have any history of every suffering pulmonary fibrosis. Either the vaccine worked but has massive side effects or it did not work at all because COVID is known to impact our lungs which may cause breathing issues. To treat yet another issue, they are using anti-fibrosis drugs to reduce tissue scarring in the lungs.
If we can treat every other disease or virus that comes our way, what so special about Covid-19 that we can’t treat. It’s just another virus that we must fight, with the help of our “world-class experts”.
