Writer's picture: MyScoopMyScoop

Facebook has said it will start to label potentially harmful posts that it leaves up because of their news value despite it violating their policies. This coupled with few other policy changes hasrmation. These change are contrary to its initial views pertaining to the issue and following the footsteps of other social media sites such as twitter. The growing boycott is gaining traction stemming from the pressure generated by civil rights organizations like the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People and the Anti-Defamation League earlier in June. As a result, nearly 100 advertisers have joined the boycott including major corporations such as Coca-Cola, Verizon, etc..With Facebook making about 98% of its $70bn in annual revenue from advertising, these announcements sent Facebook stocks tumbling 7%.
