There is now scientific testimony that virtual therapy may be more successful than in-person therapy, specifically cognitive-behavioural therapy for depression. CBT is a sort of talk therapy that is goal-oriented and short term; in CBT one learns how to recognize and then change their ways of thinking and self-talk. Due to COVID-19, many therapists are now offering CBT online rather than in the office, which isn’t truly bad news. It has been found that online CBT may be more effective than face-to-face CBT. A systematic review and evaluation of 17 studies were conducted by Luo et. al. He found that CBT’S done electronically were much more successful at reducing the gravity of depression symptoms. The rate of contentment was the same for both face-to-face CBT and eCBT in the studies, and eCBT was viewed as being more cost-effective than face-to-face CBT. Another study conducted by Al found that it leads to a 50% improvement rate in symptoms of panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, compulsive gambling disorder, stress and chronic fatigue. This shows that virtual therapy can provide you with the help you are looking for and maybe just as, if not more, helpful than going to see a therapist in person.
